The safety of students is the foundation of a successful program. Crisis management is being prepared, trained, and knowledgeable in a variety of crisis situations. Crisis can be described as a stressful or traumatic event that compromises a person's previously effective coping mechanisms (Hays, Erford, & Crockett, 2015).
CRISIS PROGRAM COMPONENTS:
In order to successfully serve our students we have a crisis team comprised of administrators, teachers, parents, support staff, and community members. The crisis team is trained to identify crisis, inventory available resources, assist students in adjusting to new situations, and provide support and empathy (Hays, Erford, Crockett, 2015). However; not all crisis happens during school hours and it is important that the community, parents, and students have access to additional crisis support outside the educational setting. Below are some additional resources that may be beneficial.
